Ambassador’s Message of Congratulations on the Iranian National Day

Today, we celebrate the forty second anniversary of the revolution with our heads held high as a proud nation, well-advanced in various fields of human knowledge

Any history of the twentieth century would be incomplete without due regard for the Islamic Revolution. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate this joyous occasion to all Iranians across the globe. Forty-two years ago on this day, the Iranian people turned a new page in Iran’s history and ushered in a new era in this ancient cradle of civilization. The revolution was the harbinger of independence and freedom from capitulation to foreign powers and the restoration of human dignity and moral values.

From the outset it became clear that colonial powers -occupiers and plunderers as they have always been- would not easily accept the newly founded system in Iran and they would never desist from their hostile acts; from provoking and sponsoring separatist factions to terrorist cults, to fomenting war and instigating illegal sanctions in the past 42 years within the context of an ever-increasing smear campaign against Iran, their hostility runs the gamut of all possible enmity.

Today, we celebrate the forty second anniversary of the islamic revolution with our heads held high as a proud nation, well-advanced in various fields of human knowledge. Notwithstanding the illegal unilateral sanctions regime against the Iranians, which has created economic hardship for the Iranian people, let there be no doubt that this too shall pass and the Iranian nation will endure this difficult period too and shall rise once more to its historic glory and grandeur as an advanced, peace-loving country who was and will be a cradle of civilization.
